Butterwood Ranch is a boutique farm stay and artist residency nestled in the verdant hinterland of the Northern Rivers, forty minutes from the iconic Byron Bay.
Part gallery, part getaway—a former dairy reimagined into a poetic country voyage where contemporary art, design, and literature exist in dialogue with the pastoral landscape.
Founded by Olivia Drake and Geoffrey Uhrhane, Butterwood Ranch draws on their complementary practices. Drake, a fashion journalist and cultural critic, brings her discerning eye to a curation of contemporary artists—representing emerging talent of the antipodean region. Uhrhane, a master carpenter, brings the hand of the artisan to every surface and threshold of the space.
Together they have created a bespoke vision of provincial living where art, design, and landscape evoke an intimate sense of place.
Butterwood Ranch acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the unceded lands where we work and live, the Widjabul People of the Bundjalung Nation. We pay our respects to Elders both past, present and future. Recognising their continuing connection to the earth, waters and culture we share.
